Elder Gilbert preached his initial sermon in November 1999 under the leadership of Elder Scottie Rogers, Pastor of Pleasant Plain United Holy Church. He was ordained during the Southern District-Goldsboro Convocation in 2003. With over 25 years of ministry experience, Elder Gilbert is respected for his integrity, proven leadership, and commitment to preaching the Gospel with power and clarity.
Elder Gilbert's vision is to lead souls to Christ and to share the love of Christ with a hurting world, with a special emphasis on reaching and empowering youth. He believes a healthy church is one where both the young and seasoned can thrive together in unity, love, and harmony. Elder Gilbert often teaches that the church must model Christlike love within its own walls, because our ability to love one another is a testimony to those outside the church who are seeking healing and hope.
Elder Gilbert is married to Elder Octavia Dail-Gilbert, formerly of Ayden, North Carolina. They are the proud parents of Octavius, Tiphani, and L'Taysia, and the loving grandparents of Paisley Ella and Parker Elaine. The Gilbert family currently resides in Durham, North Carolina.
Elder Gilbert's favorite quote is:
"Love ain't love until you give it away."
